Simple and smart seating by Sam Hecht. His Table. Bench. Chair. series was inspired by a ride on the Tokyo subway. Fascinated by the mixture of bench seating and odd stripes of color, Hecht later found out the layout was designed to create maximum efficiency of space, an idea he tried to replicate in his own work.

Artist Joanna Bean created an interesting installation in Los Angeles. Using an abandoned billboard in the Echo Park neighborhood, she slowly revealed a series of images on the giant platform of the course of several days.

Amazing installation at the Centre for Design and Architecture in Oslo, Norway. Architectural firm Fantastic Norway designed a series of suspended pixelated clouds in the exhibition hall. Over 3,000 cardboard boxes were used.

Looking at Daisuke Hiraiwa’s website after ICFF I noticed his Skin of Spaces 02 installation. Presented at IMM Cologne this year, the piece is composed of 1400 plastic knives, which Hiraiwa drilled by hand.
Lucas Maassen sent over some of his latest work, the first pieces in a new series which will be presented later this year. The Script Chair + Table are based on a digital computer script written for an analogue series of furniture. Thanks Lucas!
We’ve seen birdhouse inspired tables before, but I like this version from Alex Hellum. The British designer’s Bird Side Table and Greta chair have a simple, but sophisticated style.
